Pair of Antique Face Screen in paper painted with flowers. C. 1820.

 Sweet peas, campion and cherries on one, honeysuckle blossom and berries on the other, the flowers trail freely. They are painted sensitively as they fall suggesting delicacy and movement.

The elegant handles are turned and gilded. Near the top they are carved with acanthus leaves.

Origin: UK ;  Circa: 1820 ; Materials: paper and wood

Size:  Screen 22.5 cm wide by 18.5 cm; handle 24.5 cm long: 8.9 inches wide by 7.1 inches; handle 9.5 inches.
