Antique Box Veneered with figured walnut Circa 1870

Ref: 642JB:  Antique box veneered with  figured walnut, the top and front having a central panel framed by a crossbanding of straight grained walnut and having an inlayed line. There is a mother of pearl escutcheon surrounded a a parquetry inlay in the center of the top. The box opens to a velvet lined lift-out tray. The inside of the lid is lined with lined with satin which is button padded.  The box is edged with ebony and has a working lock and key. Circa 1870.

Origin: UK ;  Circa: 1870Materials: walnut on a pine construction.

Size: 25 cm wide by 17.7 cm by 12.3 cm:  9.8  inches wide by  7  inches by  4.8 inches.

Condition: good overall; working lock and key; see images
