JB507: Rosewood box inlaid with brass to
the front and top depicting stylized flora. The design
is controlled in deference to the Georgian neo-classical tradition but it also
embraces the Regency influence of the Royal cabinet maker George Bullock, who
introduced naturalistic elements to the earlier austere brass designs. The
inside of the box has been relined with hand marbled paper and velvet and
retains its original lift out tray. Circa 1825.
