The embroidery is slightly raised from the flora. 

The birds are very skillfully plumped, the centre of the body very rounded, gradually 
flattened for the feet and adjusted for the feathers: 3d Embroidery!

The depiction of bird feathers in silken thread is so realistic.

The birds green eye looks out at you as it looked out at the artist who stitched it in. 

This is art in thread.

Embroidery was one of the few arts in which women were allowed to excel.

The very fine feather on the birds tail at the time of the photograph amused amused me.
