Pair of Antique wooden Face Screens printed with four “beauties”.  Circa 1825.

An unusual subject, perhaps these ladies are recognisable characters from life or fiction? Each screen has two portrait images. Is one the maid of Athens ? Is another Lady Caroline Lamb? Do they have something to do with Lord Byron, or are they simply “types”? A riddle.   I will return to this after further research. I am sure these portraits are identifiable.

The handles are turned wood.
