Antique ebony edged  box in highly figured burr walnut having a Bramah type lock and  a sprung drawer of dovetail construction fitted for jewelry and a lift out tray. The drawer is held in place by a brass pin driven through the facing. In the top section there is a lift-out compartmentalized tray. In the lid there is a document wallet. Circa 1860.

Origin: UK ;  Circa: 1860 ; Materials: burr walnut on a mahogany structure.

Size: 31 cm wide by 22.5 cm by 18 cm:  12.2  inches wide by  10  inches by 7.1  inches.

Condition: good overall; working  Bramah lock and key; see images

The lift-out tray is compartmentalized making the box suitable for either jewelry or sewing. It has been recovered.

The sprung drawer is fitted for jewelry. The velvet lining and leather covered divisions are original.

Beneath the tray which has been recovered with silvered paper, the box is lined with embossed leather.
