A Particularly High Quality Regency Brass Edged mahogany Writing box Circa 1810

The box features:

Working locks and keys
Secret drawers
Brass edging
Countersunk handles
Inkwells
Side drawer
Original felt writing surface

It measures 17.5 inches wide by 9.7 inches deep and it is inches 6.5 high: 45.5 cm wide by 24.7cm deep by 17cm high.

The box retains its original finish which has patinated to a warm glow.

Detail: Brass edging and countersunk brass handle.

Detail: The box retains its original green baize felt writing surface. It also has a dovetail constructed side drawer for papers.

Detail: There are compartments for inkwells and pens. An extra sign of quality is the lock on the flap.

Detail: The panel fronting the pentray is sprung. Behind it there are secret drawers.

Detail: The panel is released by pressing the side of the box in the inkwell compartment.

Detail: There are small grooves cut into the flaps so that they accommodate the hinges.

Detail: There is a bead run all around the mitered facings.
