TC572: A mahogany veneered tea chest of bombe shape with rope twist banding, containing three lidded metal canisters. Note the exceptionally good patina. A tea chest of similar form was auctioned in 1984 bearing the label Braithwaite. This name is consistent with recorded makers in London and York at the correct date. Note the surviving traces of leading on the sides of the wooden lid. 10.25" wide. Circa 1760-70.
