Brass bound French
ebonized box by L. Aucoc aine, Paris with inlaid armorial
Achievement for Bingham/ Pemburton/ Chaldicott. The box has a
working Bramah lock, opening to a leather and silk covered
compartmentalized interior. There are compartments and small
containers which fit snugly into their allotted spaces. There is
also a ‘secret’ sprung drawer. Everything is covered in original
leather and silk. The hinge is heavy allowing for the weight of the
box. It also has the self supporting structure which helps the heavy
lid stay open. Circa
1860.
