Mahogany tea chest of traditional Chippendale form containing three  containers. Circa 1775.
A flame mahogany tea chest of traditional Chippendale form with cavetto molding to the top and edged subtly with rope twist banding having brass edge escutcheon and Dutch drop handle and containing three tinned ferrous metal lift out containers. 

Circa 1775.

Working lock and key.

 

It measures 9.5 inches wide  by 5.3 inches deep and it is 6 inches  high including feet: 24 cm wide by 13.3 cm deep by 15 cm high.

The caddy has three tinned ferrous metal lift out containers. The inside of the lid is lined with worn velvet which looks original.
