Description: Early 19th c. Chinese Export Lacquer
Chess, Drafts, and Backgammon board with associated carved
natural and stained ivory chess pieces.
The black lacquer is
decorated with gold in two colors, depicting figures and
buildings in landscapes
Origin: China Canton.
Circa: 1840
Materials: Lacquer,
ivory
Size: Board when closed 49.7cm by 25.1cm by 9.3cm:
Condition: The
Chinese lacquer in good original condition overall. There
has been some chipping (as can be seen in the pictures ) to the
lacquer at the edges. This has been carefully and professionally
consolidated and filled one of the castles is missing a flag. some
of the pawns are missing swords.

There has been some
chipping (as can be seen in the picture on the right) to the lacquer at
the edges. This has been carefully and professionally consolidated and
filled

With the Board are a boxed set of turned and carved
draughts/backgammon pieces. There are 16 natural ivory and 16 stained
ivory pieces.
There are also two turned and carved ivory dice shakers.
