A late 18th century oval walnut tea caddy.  The lid and the front contain an oval panel, each decorated with a floral display executed in a mixture of penwork and inlay. A very similar caddy (same woods same design and inlay) in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London is stamped on the rim GILLOWS OF LANCASTER. The V&A caddy is illustrated at fig 47.  Tea Caddies an Illustrated History, written by Gillian Walkling V&A publications.
