The box has a lift out compartmentalized tray and a separately
lockable side drawer. The lid is lined in ruched blue velvet with
document wallet behind.
Amboyna is the burl form of Nara. Because of its figure it has a long
history of being a prized cabinet making wood.

There is so much information in a joint:
the marking scribe line.
The very expensive amboyna seems to be about 1mm and almost the
last structural work.

The lock-plate is faintly stamped "VR" for Victoria Regina.

There is felt on the
underside. It is a later replacement.
Felt or something soft is
needed on the underside to stop the box scratching furniture.
