Antique fully fitted inlaid
coromandel sewing box by Parkins & Gotto, with chased gilded
brass hinges and lock and inlays of brass mother of pearl and
abalone to the top and front. Inside there is a fitted lift out tray
which is covered with blue paper and silk with supplementary lids
covered in blue velvet. The box has ten matching turned carved and
pierced mother of pearl spools and mother pearl handled tools
including tweezers bodkin and hook. There is a document wallet in the
lid. 1860.
The trade labels of Parkins
& Gotto describe them as Stationers and Manufacturers of Fancy
Goods.
