The mother of pearl inlay.
Some of the ebony has been chased to give vitality. This can be
seen in the enlargement.
|
Many separate pieces of mother of pearl have to be used to construct
the design. Mother of pearl inlay is time consuming to make and was
only used in this way for a short period of the 19th Century.
