Antique Rosewood  Tea caddy  opening like a drawer, circa 1850

Rosewood veneered three compartment tea caddy of extraordinary form, opening like a drawer, circa 1850. The tea caddy has tapering sides and pyramided top and stands on  brass ball feet. The front drawer is pulled out to reveal the conventional arrangement of two lidded compartments for tea and a central compartment for a cut crystal caddy bowl. 

Origin: UK ;  Circa:1850 ; Materials: .

Size: 30.5 cm wide by 16.5 cm by 17.5 cm:  12  inches wide by 6.5  inches by 6.9  inches.

There is a finely pierced and engraved brass ornament at the front.

The caddy structure is straight grained pine. The drawer structure wood is oak.

 

The cut crystal bowl has a raised lip. It is cut with a flowing pattern depicting stylized flora,
