The lid has a finely turned bone handle.

The lock is a later Victorian replacement. It is stamped "Secure Lever".

An 18th C lock would have been simpler and have only one hole in the lock plate.

The lid and the inside of the caddy retain
a lot of the original lining.

When first made the lid would have been supported by the tea. The triangular supports at the corners are a later addition.
