Anglo-Indian, Vizagapatam, box in the form of a basket, the wooden frame covered in porcupine quills, framed in ivory which is incised and decorated in black lacquer, with a horn handle. It stands on turned horn feet.
Circa 1850.
Origin: India Vizagapatam; Circa:
1850; Materials:
sandalwood, porcupine quills, ivory, buffalo horn .
Size: 23cm wide by 17 cm by 10 cm (23cm high with
handle): 9 inches wide
by 6.7 inches by 3.9 inches (9 inches high with
handle).
Condition: good
overall but some age losses and breaks to the quills and ivory; see images.
