Antique Figured Rosewood box with lift-out compartmentalized
tray and sprung drawer fitted for jewelry. There are mother of pearl
escutcheons to the top and the front. There is a ruched velvet pad
in the lid is framed with gold embossed leather behind. It is
released by pressing behind the lock catch. The sprung drawer is
released by removing a brass pin. The lift-out tray is of mahogany
construction with rosewood facings. New pads of velvet have been
made to make the tray suitable for jewelry. There is further space
beneath. Circa 1840.
