Antique Brass Edged Writing box with Bramah Lock and Secret drawers Circa 1880.

Writing box veneered in figured walnut circa 1880
Antique writing box veneered in figured walnut, with rounded brass surround and brass stringing.  The box has a working secure Bramah lock with key.
Inside the box is veneered in mahogany and has ebonised facings wood. The writing surface is lined in the original black gold-embossed leather. The inkwells of period design are added (new). The flap lifts to a mahogany interior and places for storing papers.  For extra security and privacy, the upper flap has a second lock with key.  There are three secret drawers hidden behind a sprung  panel. Working Bramah lock and key.

Circa: 1880

Size: 45 cm wide by 25 cm by 19.5 cm:   17.7  inches wide by   9.8 inches by   7.7 inches.

There are compartments for pens and inkwells in the upper part. The panel which conceals them is released by pulling  on the division  next to the compartment for the inkwell
