Description:
wb142: Antique flame mahogany writing box with brass corners and
straps, working lock and key opening to a sloped velvet covered writing
surface and compartments for pens and writing implements. Under the
flaps there are compartments for holding paper. The box also has secret
drawers hidden behind a sprung panel which is released by pulling up one
of the divisions in the pen compartment. circa 1840.
Origin: UK.
Circa: 1840
Size: 40cm by 23.5cm by 14 cm: 15.7 inches by 9.3 inches by
5.5 inches. Condition: good
overall, working lock and key. The embossed velvet covering is a later
replacement.
