Description:
Antique writing box with rounded edges, mother of pearl and
white-metal inlay opening to compartments for writing instruments,
retaining an original faceted inkwell, having further compartments
for paper, under the writing surfaces which have been recovered
with gold embossed leather.
Origin: United Kingdom
Circa: 1840
Materials:
Size: 44cm by 23.5 12 cm by cm: 17.3 inches by
9.3 inches by 4.7 inches.
Condition:
good overall, working lock and key.

The rosewood is well figured.
The box has rounded edges and is inlaid with a double line of
white-metal. There is a central inlay depicting a stylized floral
motif in the top.
