Antique Writing Box in Burr Walnut
with Brass Binding Bramah lock circa 1870

Description:
A writing box veneered in well figured burr walnut and bound and
strapped in brass. Original well mellowed French polish. The box has
a Bramah lock and an additional
lock to one of the flaps which retain their original embossed leather
writing surface.
Origin: England.
Circa: 1970
Materials: Walnut and
brass.
Size: 45 m by 25.5 cm by 18.5 cm: 17.7 inches by
10 inches by inches 7.3.
Condition: Good.
Working Bramah lock and key. Also working internal lock and key.

Front and top view showing the beauty of the figured wood which
contrasts well with the brass, which provides protection and
definition to the form.
|
The slope retains the original gold embossed leather.
There is another lock on the top flap. The box also has good Butterfly
hinges and brass rounded slots which help the flaps to line up when
closed.

There are two secret drawers under the pen tray. There
is a sprung panel which conceals the drawers. Here it is shown open.
