Description:
A Mahogany Writing  box with restrained brass decoration,  side carrying handles labeled Edwards, King street Holborn. 

Origin: United Kingdom

Circa:  1810

Materials: Mahogany with brass accents.

Size: 50cm by 26cm by 18.5cm: 19.7inches by 10.2 inches by 7.8 inches.

Condition: good over all replacement embossed leather writing surface and keys.

 The workmanship on Edwards boxes is always impeccable. Two of the compartments have supplementary lids  which are inlaid with a single brass line.

This is the label of a slightly later  writing box made by David Edwards which we featured on page 273 of our book.  This label reads: "to his Majesty  THE DUKE of YORK, &'c."

One wonders  which members of the Royal Family were then thought of as e'teras. (etc.)
