Description:
WB169: A rounded top writing box in figured burr walnut having brass escutcheon
and plate opening to an embossed velvet writing surface and compartments
for writing implements and paper. The facings are in coromandel.
The box has two hand made replacement inkwells
with screw tops. Circa
1860.
Circa: 1860
Size: 40.8 cm by 24.5 cm by 16.8 cm: 16 inches by
9.8 inches by 6.6 inches.
Condition:
Good over all, some ware to the writing surface, working lock
and key. There is some veneer cracking which does not effect the
structure of the box. See images.

The box retains its original blue velvet writing surface.
The facings are in
coromandel.

There is a sprung panel which conceals the drawers. Here it is shown
open.
