TC533: A two compartment penwork tea caddy with quirky exotic scenes depicting imagined eastern figures in the land of Cathay. The cavetto molding is decorated with repeating palmette in a fluid hand more suited to the overall design of the caddy than the more rigid neo classical . Inside there are two lidded compartments still retaining remnants of their original leading. The caddy retains its original hardware such as hinges lock and embossed brass ring handles in the form of baskets of flowers. circa 1830.
