SB125:
Antique figured rosewood sewing box the top panel
framed inlaid with mother of pearl to the top and front having
turned rosewood drop-ring handles and standing on turned bun
feet. Inside the lid is lined with contrasting blue and cream silk and
has a document wallet behind. The box has a liftout tray with supplementary
lids covered in silk. Circa 1830.

by 9.8 inches by 6.8 inches.
Condition: Good
overall original condition, working lock and key, see images.

Inside, the lid is lined with contrasting blue
and ruched cream silk and has a document wallet behind. The box has a
liftout tray with supplementary lids covered in silk.

Veneered in rosewood and inlaid in mother of pearl, a
material used in the later part of the Regency period. To be more
precise we are moving into the era of George IV and William IV. The form
is in the established Egyptian inspired tradition.
Note the fine detail of the mother of pearl inlay.
