A large brass edged top quality box veneered with almost black
coromandel (ebony) and having inset brass carrying handles
matching Bramah lock
s one for the box the other for the drawer which is fitted for
jewelry. The box retains its original leather covered velvet lined
liftout tray. There is a tooled leather document wallet in the
lid. Inside the document wallet there is a label "Briggs
Manufacturer, 27 Piccadilly". The box is lined with its
original leather and velvet. Circa 1850.
