Description:
Antique box in satin-birch and ebony inlaid with mother of pearl depicting stylized birds and flora. The mother of pearl inlay is strongly executed and is finely engraved. The top and front of the box have fielded satin-birch panels framed by turned gadrooning in birch and ebony. Inside the box has been relined with hand made marbled paper. It has a velvet covered liftout tray. Working lock and key. Circa 1830

Size: 28cm wide by 22 cm by 12cm:  11 inches wide by  8.7 inches by 4.7 inches.

Condition: good overall, working lock and key, some staining to the satin-birch.

 Detail: panel of inlay in the centre. The ebony contrasts strongly with the mother of pearl and satin birch.  The mother of pearl is finely engraved making the birds almost three dimensional.
