Antique late 18th C box veneered with book-matched  flame mahogany

Description:  A late 18th C box veneered with beautifully faded book-matched  flame mahogany edged with contrasting boxwood and having a replacement liftout tray which is lined with velvet making the box suitable for jewelry. 

Origin: UK

Circa: 1790

Size: 28.7cm wide by 19cm by 10.5cm:  8.3 inches wide by  7.5 inches by  4.1 inches.

Condition: Good overall beautifully patinated, working lock and key.

Inside the box has a velvet lined liftout tray which is a modern replacement.

The inside of the lid has a framing of boxwood inlaid with a double line of half herringbone or chevron pattern inlay executed in contrasting maple and dark wood (ebony).
