The box is marked
"Fisher 188 -Strand." Little is known about Fisher than from
his surviving boxes. All we have seen have been of good quality. There
is another slightly earlier example of Fisher's work at jb123/.
Fisher was also known for selling boxed chess sets and other games.
The Strand which connects the
City (London) to Trafalgar Square was one of the most fashionable
shopping streets in the 19th Century.

Behind the document wallet which is covered in blind
embossed leather, there is a leather covered self standing mirror

There is a small circular
engraved plate in the center of the top. The figuring of the burr
walnut is particularly attractive.
