Description:
An elegant compact mid 19th century domed top figured walnut box fitted for jewelry with divisions in embossed leather and linings in green velvet and silk . 

Origin: United kingdom

Circa: 1860

Size: 25 cm wide by 17.2 cm by 9.5 cm:  9.84 inches wide by 6.8 inches by 3.7 inches.

Condition: good original condition, wear consistent with age, working lock and key.

The box has a curved top, the same piece of beautifully and strikingly figured piece of walnut veneer continuous from  front to back

The box has a fitted liftout tray fitted for jewelry with designed spaces to hold a pocket watch and rings.

 

The silk and leather are all original to the box.

 The escutcheon is mother of pearl; this is framed by alternate lines of ebony and white metal.
