Description:
Antique
box veneered richly colored and figured rosewood
box, the top inlaid with mother of pearl plate, having a
lift out tray with divisions and a side drawer fitted for
jewelry, a document wallet in the lid and a framed mirror.
The
workmanship is of high standard; for example, the box is edged with a
rounded piece of wood which finishes it elegantly and also protects
it.
Origin: United Kingdom
Circa: 1840
Materials: Rosewood,
mother of pearl.
Size: 30.3cm wide by 22.8 cm by 16.4 cm: 11.9 inches wide by 9
inches
by 6.5 inches.
Condition: Good
overall, working lock with key.

The box opens up to reveal
a liftout tray. There is also a silk lined side drawer with
original divisions covered in leather. The sprung drawer which
is of dovetail construction is held closed by a brass pin.
The flap in the lid retains
its original finely embossed leather framing and ruched velvet.
