Victorian walnut veneered box inlaid in strips of geometric marquetry circa 1880

Description:
A
box veneered in walnut and inlaid in strips of geometric marquetry of light and stained woods having a liftout tray covered with its original 19th c paper.

Origin: United Kingdom

Circa: 1880

Materials: Pine construction with walnut veneer and inlay in many woods

Size: 29.6 cm wide by 232 cm by 12.5 cm:  11.7 inches wide by  9.1 inches by  4.9 inches.

Condition:  overall the box is in good condition with a working lock and key. There is some veneer cracking on the curved edge near the back ( see the pictures).

Inside the box has a liftout tray still covered in its original 19th c gold printed paper. The  tray was designed for sewing  but could be used for jewelry or sewing.
