Antique French inlaid Harewood Box Circa 1850.

Description:
Antique harewood box with rounded corners edged with boxwood and finely inlaid with floral motifs in boxwood. 

Harewood is maple which has been quarter sawn giving a ripple of grain color, called curl. Maple is a light colored wood so it is stained dark.

Origin: France

Circa: 1850.

Materials: 

Size: 27 cm wide by 19 cm by 9.6 cm: 10.6 inches wide by  7.4 inches by  3.8 inches.

Condition: good original condition, working lock and key.

The inside of the box has been relined with handmade marbled paper.
