Antique Italian Casket in the Renaissance Classical Revival Manner

Description:
Antique Italian Casket in the Renaissance Classical Revival Manner. The box is made of walnut with raised panels of ebony. It stands on a a platform base which is supported on ebony bracket feet. The lid protrudes to the same extent as the base giving the box an imposing structure.

The sides and the framings are inlaid with a mosaic of alternate ivory and ebony.

The top is also inlaid with geometric mosaic centered by an engraved panel of ivory depicting a Roman theme. 

Origin: Italy

Circa: 1840

Materials: Walnut, ivory ebony.

Size: 41cm wide by 25cm by 15cm:  16inches wide by  9.8inches by  6inches.

Condition: overall good. This box has never been fitted with a lock.
