Antique Early Victorian Rosewood
Box with Brass Edging, liftout tray, Jewlery Drawer, and Bramah Locks.

Description:
A box
veneered in rosewood, with brass edging, central inlaid engraved
initials, and side handles. It is of exceptionally high quality, which
continues into the interior. It is lined in velvet, embossed
leather. It has a lift out tray and a lower drawer fitted for
jewelry.
The box
has a working Bramah lock.
The drawer has its own lock which uses the same key as the main
box lock.
There is a
document wallet in the lid.
Origin: UK
Circa: 1845.

Materials: rosewood
brass.
Size: 30.5 cm wide by 23.5 cm by 18 cm: 12 inches wide by
9.3 inches
by 7.7 inches.
Condition: overall
good, working locks and original Bramah key.

The lock plate is marked with
a crown VR for Victoria Regina and Bramahs Patent.
The lock retains its original
key.

The drawer lock is also
marked Bramah.

There is an inlaid plate at the back which indicates that the
box was made by one of the important makers of the mid 19th century.
It reads:
"I. Turrill Dressing & writing case makers
250 Regent Street."

The top is an expanse of highly figured rosewood. It is edged with
brass and has a central brass plate with engraved initials.
