JB443:
Rosewood and brass bound box circa 1820.
A handsome box, veneered in saw-cut figured rosewood. It is edged in angled
brass which defines its well proportioned form. A flat folding handle accents
the top. The interior tray and dividing wooden sections are in mahogany and are
contemporary with the box. The leather lining is original, but the velvet
coverings have been added so as to protect and make the interior easier to use.
These are removable.
Both the working lock and the hinges are original.
