JB414: Early Victorian box veneered in rosewood and bound with brass straps and unusually shaped brass corners which soften the formality of the brass with a gently rounded curve. The interior and the lift-out tray are covered in the original wine-coloured leather. Under the tray the space is further compartmentalised with original leather covered separations. The back lid envelope pouch is again covered in the original leather and decorated with a gold embossed pattern of palmettes. Working lock and key. Circa 1835-40.
