JB407: William IV/early Victorian box veneered in strongly figured rosewood and edged in rounded brass, which defines the lines and strengthens the structure. Inside the original tray has been fitted with additional velvet pads. The flap on the inside top lid retains the original leather complete with fine gold embossed decoration in the neoclassical tradition. It opens down to an 'envelope' lined in original pink paper. Veneer cracking on top not affecting the structure. The box has a working lock and key. Circa 1835.
