A refined Georgian box veneered with parquetry in native and imported
hardwoods Circa.1790.

Description:
A refined Georgian box veneered with parquetry exploiting
subtle variations of wood color and pattern. The woods are both
native and imported hardwoods with some pieces the added interest
of end grain or oyster cut . The maker was exploring geometry in
wood and may have been inspired by some of the mosaic inlay boxes
being imported from India. There are different design on each side. The
box stands on turned wooden feet has a working lock and key.
The box has been relined and
has a replacement liftout tray.

Materials: rosewoods
mahogany yew oak and ebony on a pine construction.
Size: 14”
x 8.8”, 6.3” tall. 35.5cm x 22.5cm, 16cm tall.
Condition:
overall good there is a little movement in the top which is made of
several pieces.

been relined with velvet and handmade marbled paper
