Papier mâché inkstand impressed to the base "JENNENS & BETTRIDGE BIRMm"  beneath a Crown decorated in green red blue and gilt decoration, standing on turned feet. It has two period faceted glass inkwells with hinged tops.

Origin: UK ;  Circa: 1840; Materials: papier mâché, faceted glass.

Size: 30.5 cm wide by 20.5 cm by 3 cm:   12 inches wide by 8  inches by  1.2  inches.

Condition: good overall;  see images

Between the bottles there is a central lidded compartment. This has a turned and carved mother of pearl handle.

The symmetrical designs are typical of the period.
